Responsibilities

  • Lead a team and create a positive work environment with open communication
  • Mentor employees, especially junior apprentices
  • Ensure quantity and quality of work performed by the service department to meet and exceed customer satisfaction
  • Supervises and distributes work to service technicians
  • Ensure work is completed timely, cost-effectively and safely
  • Provides technical expertise and support
  • Completes service requests discussing problems with customer and Technicians
  • Assist Technicians to perform and correct repairs
  • Mentors Technicians, assists with training where needed
  • Ensures superior customer and employee relations
  • Maintains optimal quality of products and services
  • Assist in trouble shooting problems and road test vehicles when required
  • Staying current with repair procedures/recalls/bulletins etc. and forwarding information to appropriate personnel
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
  • In the absence of the service manager, duties will include:
    • Take customer complaints or request for the required repairs
    • Assign work to the Technicians and supervise the repairs
    • Review repair orders them and explain the completed repairs and cost to the customer
    • Forward warranty work orders to Warranty Administrator for processing, including extended warranty registrations.
    • Forward repair orders that meet requirements to Credit Department for lien checks

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school
  • Completion of a four-year Truck and Transport Technician Apprenticeship
  • 4+ years of work experience
  • Red Seal Trade Certification
  • Valid class 1 OR 3 Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement
  • Valid inspection ticket to perform commercial vehicle inspections is an asset 
  • Superior mechanical aptitude with an in-depth knowledge of heavy duty truck repairs
  • Strong computer skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Strong personal organizational skills as they relate to workload, time management and setting priorities in an unsupervised environment
Hours of Work 
  • Evening Shift: 3:30pm - 11:30pm 

Compensation Rate

  • $53.88 per hour + $2 per hour Foreperson premium + premiums for specific certifications
  • Pay rate will be determined based on previous experience, relevant certifications and skill level
